What equals 43? 43 in binary is 101011 000001 = 1 000010 = 2 000011 = 3 000100 = 4 000101 = 5 I could go on, but for 101010, let's explain that. 000010 = 2 001000 = 8 100000 = 32 2 + 8 + 32 = 42 Thus 101010 = 42 And therfor 42 = Life, the universe and everything.

For the 8 why is it 001000 and not 001010 and the 32 is 100000 and not 101010 I think if you answer this question i'll just get even more confused. So if i watch the movie instead of reading the books will i know why 42=the answer to life?

That's one of my pet peeves. You need to figure things out for yourself. Go learn binary. Seriously. I'm not going to sit here and just give you the answer like Kyonko did. I took a class Cisco class to be exact I learned all this stuff, but forgot most of it. But yeah Computer only reads Binary. Ever seen the Matrix movies? All those numbers in green those are binary codes
